In August 2018 I came upon the idea to gather the group of artists I had come to know in Alderney during some 25 years. It struck me as an artist... That the artist community in the small island of Alderney was in many ways equal to that of St Ives... or to that of Skagen Painters... or to that of the artist community in Provence.

Eventually... all special places around the world attracts painters... photographers... writers...

Such inspiring communities formes naturally over the years and each such place... infiltrates the minds of artists and writers.

In St ives the inspiration of finding the small fishing village far away from the maddening crowd... In Skagen artist found an other fishing village... at the very northern tip of Denmark... where the seas of Skagerak and Kattegat met the open landscape of sandy beaches and that of the magic Northern Light that never goes dark... in Provence the intensness of the sun... burnt landscapes... making the choice of colours intense and vibrant...

Then Alderney... a quirky little island... so small that it is often referred to as a rock... has always had its particular draw on artists... its perpetual forceful tides... the ever changing weather of fog... clear skies... gales and stillness... the focus of solitude in that small island... but at the same time the uniquness of a closeknit and friendly community
